Leading camera drone manufacturer DJI just teased the introduction of a new generation of drones that will be announced on March 1st. Cinema5D will report from the launch event held in New York.
DJI just released a video teaser that makes their plans to reveal a new camera drone clear. The short promotional piece gives us a glimpse of the design that we will see and lets us know that we should look out for the news next week.
So what new drone could this be you may ask? While we’re usually very reserved when it comes to reporting about rumors, there have been quite a few interesting tidbits flying around the net concerning the new drone.
Many seem to speculate that a new generation of the famous consumer Phantom drone could be around the corner. After the introduction of the Phantom 3 just one year ago, it would be time for the Phantom 4 that could bring improvements to the video side, like a new camera with a higher resolution or slow motion capabilities, or even a sensor upgrade to improve picture quality.
Also, according to QuadcopterGuide DJI’s Patent for “Systems and Methods for Target Tracking” was published on Feb. 4th and hints at an improved method of tracking its surroundings and users which may be featured in the upcoming DJI Phantom 4.
An update to the DJI Inspire 1 is less likely, as it has been upgraded just recently with the X5 option and the X5 RAW module that is yet to start shipping.
Chinese “startup” company DJI has been quite aggressively bringing out new technology in the last years. We can be sure they won’t stop and we’ll see both competitive products in different niches as well as new innovations. The new drone surely is going to make us curious.
